FAQ
Here's a selection of our most frequently asked questions.
No you don't. We all have limited resources, be it time, money or our own abilities.
- Time - You shouldn't be spending time learning the Amazon platform. Strive to be the best marketer of your products you can be, not the best retailer on Amazon.
- Money - If you don't already have the teams in place, with Amazon specific knowledge, then you’ll need to pay for salaries, training and technology, which can be expensive.
- Focus - Don’t lose focus on what you're good at. Focus on what works… that is making the best products you can and marketing them through multiple channels. Let us manage the Amazon platform on your behalf.
- Product listing control - Amazon Retail locks the product listing page, so it will be very difficult for you to make any changes, or improvements, to what your customers see.
- Price control - You lose influence over the price your products are sold at. Amazon dictates the pricing. If for any reason your product is not selling enough for Amazon, then they will aggressively drop the price (even so low that they make a loss) to sell through their inventory.
- Cost - Simply put, Amazon holds all the cards in the negotiating process and they determine what you pay. Amazon’s fees can be similar to a third-party seller, but they’ll never be lower.
- Additional fees - Vendor Central often charges extra fees for you to view data that is free to access in Seller Central.
It depends. You can have multiple sellers to try and prevent inventory stock-outs, but this will dilute your marketing efforts, increase your workload and ultimately lead to price competition.
Quite simply, it's dangerous to have only one sales channel. Imagine what would happen to your business if that one channel went down, even for only a day! Having more than one sales channel diversifies your risk and allows you to redirect customers to an alternative channel. For example, if the server that hosts your Shopify store crashes, then you can email your customers with links to your products on Amazon.
